On 24. June 2023 we start again in the adventure 24h tour. Italianità awaits us in this issue, as we head for Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy.
Planned are about 437 Km and 5’950 Hm. But unlike the last two years, most of the elevation gain on the Lake Garda route will come in the first half when the legs are still fresh.
To start with, the tour goes through the Oberland, along Lake Thun and Lake Brienz to the Aare Gorge. Through the Haslital the way leads us over the Grimsel Pass into the Valais. After the descent through the Obergoms, the steepest part of the tour awaits us with the Nufenen Pass, which, however, is rewarded with a long descent through the Ticino.
With the exception of minor climbs, the route then remains mostly flat, first following the western shore of Lago di Lugano, crossing it between Melide and Bissone and continuing along the eastern shore to Mendrisio before crossing the border into Italy in Chiasso.
We drive through the beautiful town of Como to Bergamo and Brescia before finally arriving at our destination Desenzano del Garda.
